It’s officially the best holiday of the year! National Doughnut Day! While I definitely stopped at my local doughnut store on this busy day, homemade doughnuts are easier than you think! While you are more than welcome to go the old-fashioned route and whip up your own dough, some days we just don’t have the time and this simple recipe will have you chowing down on some sugary goodness in minutes! 


1 package refrigerated buttermilk biscuit dough

Oil to cover frying pan 1 1/2 inches deep

3/4 cup sugar

1 Tb cinnamon


Heat oil in a frying pan over medium/high heat until simmering. Break apart the individual biscuits and cut a hole in the middle. Drop into simmering oil and cook 20-30 seconds on each side. The doughnut should now be a golden brown. Place doughnuts on paper towel to absorb excess oil. Mix together cinnamon and sugar in small bowl. One at a time, drop the doughnuts into the cinnamon sugar and coat. Let cool, and enjoy!
