Here’s something you already know. Southern women love shoes. We love them. It’s as simple as that. As we roll into Autumn, our enthusiasm for the cooler temperatures and creamy pumpkin soup is matched equally by our giddiness about pulling those gorgeous tan suede boots out of the closet! We can’t wait to share some fabulous autumn footwear trends with you. Let’s start with color block. It’s fun and fresh and we love it. Well, most of it. Take a peek.
Color block footwear can carry you from warmer to colder temperatures with ease. These delightful open toe leather pumps make a great statement paired with a flowy autumn print dress for work or blue jeans and a blazer when stepping out on Friday night. These suede and smooth leather boots need no accoutrements. They alone are the statement, which is why we’d match them with a simple black or tan shirt dress. Let the boots do the talking. “Hello, beautiful.”
Classic style meets color block. Wow, do these shoes speak to us – and we certainly speak their language. We’d match these black and white open toe pumps with just about any of our solid or print dresses in bold colors like garnet, goldenrod or sapphire. And the flats? Oh the flats. We see them with tan pencil slacks and an oxford shirt or lightweight cashmere sweater. Tie a bold print scarf around your neck and you’re done – and gorgeous.
We love mixing patterns and textures and these autumn boots make easy work of it. There’s just something about a full boot with an A-line skirt or dress. Select warm shades in subtle patterns and don’t be afraid to mix and match (we suggest not mixing animal prints – it ain’t fittin’). Imagine the short, faux fur boots paired with black tights, a pencil skirt and a crisp white blouse. You’ll turn heads for all the right reasons.
Southern Sisters like flats. These ivory and robin’s egg blue slip-ons are beyond adorable. Pop these on with jeans, a print blouse, cardigan and chunky necklace and you’ll be too cute for words. Seriously, there are no words for how cute these are. Sadly, we must turn our attention to the color block boots in an unnatural shade of green and black. We Southern Sisters advise you not to wear these. In fact, if you do, we will hunt you down wherever you are and pull them off your feet to spare your reputation as a fellow Southern Sister. After all, that’s what sisters are for.
